STAFF:

    Tracy Huang, Director of Academics











   Anne Burroughs, Admissions and Marketing
  Anne grew up outside of Paris but spent all her vacations
  on the French Riviera, so that's where she really feels  
  "from".  She received a degree in International Economics
  from the Universite Aix-Marseille III in Aix-en-Provence
  before moving to Madison, Wisconsin in 1990.  After
  getting over the climatic shock, she obtained an MBA in
  Marketing in 1992!  For the next 8 years, Anne worked in
  marketing research and account planning for advertising agencies in Wisconsin and New York City.  After taking a "break" to raise her 2 boys, Anne joined the International School as a parent in 2002.  Before her current position, she was the Director of Marketing in 2005-2006, the Interim Director of School in 2006-2007, and Director of Admissions and Outreach in 2007-2008.  Anne loves to cook, and would love to open her own food-related business someday soon!




  Luisa Assink, Office Manager
  Luisa was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, where
  she received a degree in Business.  She moved to the
  United States in 1997 to study English, and obtained a
  Masters degree in International Business from Florida
  Metropolitan University in Fort Lauderdale in 1999.  Luisa
  then moved to Virginia in 2000.  She worked for 3 years
  in the accounting department of the Northern Virginia
  Community College.  Luisa also worked for a CPA before
  taking a break from paid work to raise her 2 children.   
  Luisa has been with the International School since 2007.  Luisa's passion, after her children, is horseback-riding.  She has been riding since she was 7, and has her own horse, a huge thoroughbred named "ScratchBack".




   Claire Buisseret, Office Assistant
  
Claire was born in Jamaica where she lived until the age
  of 12.  She then moved to Chicago, where she got a BA
  in English and French from Loyola University and
  a Masters in Education-English & French from
  Northwestern University.  She taught High School
  English and French in Chicago, Los Angeles and New
  Orleans before moving to Charlottesville in 2001, where
  she and her husband have been raising their 4 children.
  She joined the International School as a parent with her
  oldest child in 2002, and has been the administrative assistant since 2006.  Claire still has her 2 youngest children in the school.  In her "spare time", Claire loves to cook, swim and read.  Her next career move will be as a drummer in a rock band...

FACULTY:

Toddler Class:

   Susan Wunderlich, Head Teacher
  
Originally from the Philadelphia area, Susan is proud
  to say that she home-schooled all 3 of her children
  for 13 years, and that they all went or are currently
  attending Virginia Tech! 
  Susan then taught children ages 3 to 5 for 8 years at
  the Canterbury Preschool in Charlottesville. She was
  also co-director of the school for 3 of those years.
  Beside being passionate about teaching, Susan is  
  also passionate about Ultimate Frisbee, which she has been playing competitively since 2004!





   Johanne Beaudoin, Aide teacher   
  Johanne was born and raised and Quebec, where she
  studied Early Childhood Education at the College
  Shawinigan. She moved to Charlottesville in 2006,
  where she worked as an Au Pair for 2 years.  Johanne
  started working at the International School in the fall
  of 2009.  Johanne loves music, knitting, camping and
  the outdoors in general.  She really misses the
  Canadian snow though!
  
  


French Preschool:


     
   
Kate Agrapart-Gates, Head Teacher
   Kate earned a B.A. in Psychology from the 
   University of Paris, France and a AMI (Association
   Montessori Internationale) primary teaching degree.
   She taught for 3 years in Montessori schools in Paris
   before moving to Charlottesville. She has been Head
   Teacher in the French immersion preschool class
   since 1999!

   Geraldine Dane, Teacher's Aide
   A native of Paris, Geraldine studied children and 
   geriatric care in France. She first joined the
   International School in January 2006 as a substitute
   teacher.  She was the Toddler class assistant 
   teacher in 2006-2007, and has been the French
   preschool Teacher's Aide since the fall of 2007. 
   Geraldine obtained her Child Development Associate  
   (CDA) degree in June of 2009.
   She loves spending her free time with friends and
   family, over some French food and a glass of wine.



French Pre-k/Kindergarten
:

   Sybil Hasson, Head Teacher
   Sybil was born and raised in France.  She earned a 
   Master's Degree in sociology from the University of
   Paris, and completed teacher training at the IUFM
   (Institut Universitaire de Formation des Maitres) of
   Bordeaux in 1996. She taught in preschools and
   elementary schools in Paris for 7 years before joining
   our school as the French Prek/K Head teacher in the
   fall of 2003. When not teaching, Sybil loves to cook
   and experiment with new recipes.



Spanish Preschool:


 
   Ali Sullivan, Head Teacher
  Ali was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia,
  where she received a degree in Social Studies and
  Journalism.  She moved to Indianapolis, IN in
  1994.  There she studied education at IUPUI
  (Purdue University - Indianapolis) while teaching
  prek through 2nd grade at the International
  School of Indianapolis.  At the same time, she
  taught art appreciation classes and led a home
  -schooling group in all areas of studies.  Ali then moved to Southern Florida in 1998, where she led a homeschooling group for 4-year olds, and taught at the Montessori Elementary Charter School in Key West.  Ali moved to Charlottesville in the summer of 2009 to be closer to her sister Olga, who taught at ISC as well on 2007/2008.  When not teaching, Ali loves biking, going to art classes, ... and Zumba! 



   Verena Sewberath-Misser, Assistant Teacher
  Verena was born in Suriname, her father's home
  country.  She moved to Aruba, her mother's
  home, at the age of 6, then finally moved to
  Northern Virginia at age 7.  She grew up speaking
  both Dutch and Spanish.  Verena received a BA in
  Spanish and Italian from James Madison University
  in 2007.  She is currently working toward her
  Master of Arts in Teaching at Mary Baldwin
  College, graduating May 2010 with a prek-6th
  grade certification.  She has been teaching at the
  International School since 2007, including as head teacher during summer camps.  Verena is also an avid traveler who loves yoga.
