Toddler Foreign Language Introduction Program
Our popular toddler program for ages 2-3 provides an introduction to Spanish and French language as part of a fun school day. Instruction occurs in English, but vocabulary is also introduced in both French and Spanish. During the toddler year, teachers emphasize emotional development and social interaction as well as the development of self-help skills, with the goal of instilling an early love of learning. Morning Program: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Five day, three day, and two day options and Extended Care are available.
Afternoon Program: 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday-Wednesday-Friday only.
Preschool Classes in French or Spanish
Our preschool classes are full-immersion programs for students age 33 months through 4 years old at the start of the school year. During the school day, instruction occurs in the target language, wtih a focus on building vocabulary, social development, and building confidence for early learners. Families choose either French or Spanish. Previous exposure to either language is not necessary for children or their parents. Click here to learn more about our preschool program.

Pre-Kindergarten Classes in French or Spanish
Our Pre-Kindergarten classes are full-immersion programs for students who have turned 4 by September 30. In this class, children develop their early academic skills, with a focus on reading, writing, and a holistic, hands-on introduction to math, science, music, and the arts. Kindergarten Classes in French or Spanish

Extended Care Hours
The school offers flexible before- and after-school care covering from 8:00am to 5:30pm. The Extra Care program is conducted primarily in English, although Spanish and French are often spoken by the teachers in charge. The extended care activities support the cultural awareness developed in the classrooms while offering a fun, caring environment for the children.

The International School of Charlottesville operates on an academic year calendar, with a schedule that loosely follows local public schools. We offer camps throughout the summer, and a special "Spring Break Camp" for families who need or want year-round care.
